I have known Mike since we were both very young. We went to the same first school and enjoyed each other’s company. During our early teens, we played a lot of squash against each other and played in Crosspool Corinthians football club together with all the other lads from Crosspool and we've all stayed friends until the present.
 
My best memories of Mike (and Heather) are about sailing (or in Heather’s case Sheffield United). I have great memories of being at Wembley with Mike and Heather when the "Blades" lost an exciting semi-final match against to Hull.
 
Mike, like myself, was a very keen and good sailor and I had many good times sailing against and with Mike at Dam Flask Reservoir in Sheffield.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Later in life we went our separate ways, but we always saw Mike at least once a year at the annual get together of the Crosspool Corinthians.
 
In recent years I felt close to Mike's political view i.e. somewhat left of centre like mine!!
 
A lovely guy who will be badly missed by Pam and I and all who knew him
